Mom Nabbed For Shoplifting Escapes Security, Leaves 4-Year-Old Behind

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Police say a mother, who was nabbed for shoplifting at a Center City department store earlier this month, escaped from security without the child she brought with her. On Monday night, authorities announced that the mother was in custody.

The incident happened just after 6:00 p.m. on the Thursday before Valentine's Day.

Authorities say 27-year-old Mahogany Ashly Terry, of Strawberry Mansion, was at Macy's with her 4-year-old daughter, helping herself to about $1,400 worth of merchandise, when Loss Prevention specialists moved in.

She was later reunited with relatives.
