Mischief Night Means No Eggs For Minors At One Local Grocery Chain

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) --   We're just a few days away from Halloween, which means we're just a few days away from Mischief Night. And that means some teens are looking to purchase eggs, but one local supermarket chain is preventing the sales of these to minors and hopefully preventing that from happening.

Next to the sales signs for sharp cheddar and the discounts on drinks sits this message from Redner's Markets. No, it's not a coupon for eggs.

"We do not sell eggs to minors because they're going to go around and vandalize with the eggs and stuff like that," says Redner's manager Eric Erbelding.

You heard that right… if you're looking to make that soufflé for grandma or that fritatta for your significant other the week before halloween, you'll have to shop somewhere else.

Erbelding says there's really not a lot of leniency with the policy.

"I guess it would depend on whose here that night but most of the time we're going to stop it," Erbelding says.

Manager Eric Erbelding says Redner's policy isn't new. It's been around for some time. "We've had it since this store has been open for five year I think it is now," he said.

And talking to some of Redner's younger customers, "on Halloween, I'm going to go egging," says Symir Priester.

It's probably a good policy. Priester says the policy is frustrating. "Yeah, because this is the closest store to my house," he said. "I'll go somewhere else. I'll get them from my friends house."

Though it's not one even some adults thinks is fair. "I think it's ridiculous. I think it's a part of growing up. We all egged people's house, toilet papered people's houses. Mischief night is mischief night," said Shira McLemore.

And if she got egged, she said she wouldn't care. "No, I would just curse them out, like any other typical parent."
