Report: Millennials Drink Almost Half Of All Wine In United States

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – According to a new report, Millennials consumed more than 159 million cases of wine in 2015, which is more than any other generation and 42 percent of all the wine drunk in the United States.

Millennials accounted for 30 percent of high-frequency drinkers researchers spoke with.

And they're spending more for a good bottle of wine, too. The survey found that 17 percent of Millennial wine drinkers bought a bottle costing more than $20 in the past month, compared to just five percent of baby boomers.

Researchers also found wine is winning with women. Females account for 57 percent of wine volume in the U.S., according to the report.
