Mild Temps For Some Of St. Patrick's Day Before A Sharp Decline

By Geoff Bansen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- I see lots of green in this St. Patrick's Day forecast!

Not so much on the radar, I was referring to the ground, where much of the grass has finally reappeared after a long winter. Unfortunately, it may try to hide under a white blanket one more time later this week.

For now, we have nothing but dry weather to speak of. A few showers rolled through to the north overnight, but it won't be impacting the Delaware Valley this morning. Clouds will eventually give way to some sunshine throughout the day.

The bigger story to speak of is a sharp temperature decline. An already mild morning, highs today will top out around 60 degrees by noon before taking a tumble later this afternoon. By later this evening, temperatures are expected to have dropped by almost 30 degrees. Winds will be picking up as well, and they will be gusty later on today. So before you head out, be sure to dress accordingly! March has many swings, and we will certainly be seeing that today.

Wednesday and Thursday will be below average but dry. On Friday, a new storm will bring the threat for rain and, yes, even some SNOW! It doesn't look like it will be a lot, but any is more than enough for the first day of spring, which begins at 6:45 p.m. on Friday.
