Mike Trout Wins His Third Silver Slugger Award

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Mike Trout has played consistently in the majors for three seasons. He now has a third Silver Slugger Award to show for his efforts. On Thursday, the Millville, NJ native received the award for a third straight impressive season at the plate.

Trout has quickly risen to the top of Major League Baseball and with the departure of Derek Jeter, there are many who view Trout as the next face of the game.

Since joining the Angels for an entire season in 2012, Trout has finished second in MVP voting twice and has been named an All-Star each season. In 2014, Trout batted .287 with 173 hits, 39 doubles, nine triples, 36 home runs and 111 RBIs.

Trout was joined by Dexter McCutchen and Washington's Ian Desmond as players who received their third straight Silver Slugger Award.
