Mike Trout To Have Surgery On Thumb, Out 6-8 Weeks

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Los Angeles Angels announced Mike Trout will have surgery on Wednesday to repair the ulnar collateral ligament of his left thumb. He's expected to miss six to eight weeks.

This is Trout's first major injury. He has played at least 157 games in each of his last four seasons.

Trout, 25, was on fire hitting .337/.461/.742 with 16 homers and 36 RBI's in 47 games this season. Trout hit nine May home runs in 64 at bats.
