Men Driving On NJ Road Find What Appears To Be A Human Skull

BRICK, N.J. (AP) — Two men driving along a road spotted what appears to be a human skull at the edge of a wooded area, authorities said.

Al Della Fave, a spokesman for the Ocean County prosecutor, said the men made the discovery Tuesday afternoon.

"They pulled over to examine it, and immediately called the police," he said.

Nearby roads were closed Wednesday morning as investigators returned to the scene to search for any additional evidence that might be nearby.

Della Fave said the death of the person to whom the skull belonged does not appear to have happened recently.

Authorities are checking missing persons reports to see if any might be related to the discovery.
