Permanent Memorial Honors 'Super Stat' Harvey Pollack

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A Pennsylvania historical marker now stands outside the Wells Fargo Center, in honor of longtime Sixers statistician Harvey Pollack.

We toss around stats like assists, turnovers, and offensive and defensive rebounds now, but it was Pollack who created them.

Pollack died last year at the age of 93. And now there's a marker honoring his life.

Sixers legend Billy Cunningham spoke at the unveiling ceremony Thursday:

"Just think of all the jobs that he's created. He's created analytics. He's created all the sportswriters that have all this information at their fingertips."

Sixers advisor Sonny Hill had high praise for the man they called "Super Stat..."

"I would actually place Mr. Harvey Pollack at the same level as Number 13. That's Wilt Chamberlain. That's the impact that he's had on the game of basketball."

Historian Celeste Morello pushed for the marker, which stands on the walkway to Xfinity Live.
