Members Of A New Jersey Drug Ring Charged

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Authorities in New Jersey announced on Monday a pair of indictments in which a dozen men were charged with running a large-scale narcotics trafficking ring.

New Jersey's chief of criminal prosecutions Elie Honig says the operation spanned from Atlantic City to North Jersey and beyond.

"We started off by investigating the activities of a what we suspected to be a white supremacist group in Atlantic City. It turned out this group was involved in drug sales, and we followed up the chain, and that's how we made a bigger case," he said.

Honig says the ring marketed cocaine and designer drugs online, distributing them by mail -- but some members were more than willing to get their hands dirty.

"We also charged that certain members of this group were in a plot to murder two of their drug-dealing rivals," said Honig

According to Honig, large quantities of drugs were seized, and that's not all:

"Among other things, $1.2 million in cash from the trunk of one of these ring members, which I think speaks to the size of this group."

Netting a surprisingly big catch.
