McDonald's Garlic Fries A Success In California Test Run

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The McDonald's experiment with garlic fries is over -- for now -- but it appears to have been a great success.

The fast food chain tested the fries at four locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. The fries were sold out in less than two weeks and people there are hungry for more.

"The response from our customers has been very positive," said Nick Vergis, Co-op President, San Francisco Bay area. "We enjoy giving our customers options and bringing this local flavor to our world-famous French fries."

The fries are made with world-famous garlic from Gilroy, California, known as the garlic capital of the world.

McDonald's says it is considering bringing back the garlic fries and possibly rolling them out nationwide.
