Mayor Nutter Meets With Local Tech Companies And Entrepreneurs

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Mayor Nutter spent a chunk of his Friday visiting start-up and technology companies, taking the opportunity to meet with leading entrepreneurs and their employees.
City officials and the young companies they checked out agree that Philadelphia has emerged as a 'start-up hub.'
Arcweb founder Chris Cera, who does product design and development of enterprise software to service the financial and healthcare markets, currently employs 25 people. They were in shared space at nearby Independence Hall on North Third Street.
"We were the largest and fastest growing company there. We had basically outgrown the space."
Now they've moved into their own space at 234 Market Street.
"We decided to stay here in the nerd street community of Philadelphia where things are just happening."
Deputy Mayor for Economic Development Alan Greenberger says sometimes a company with five workers stays at five, sometimes it grows to 50.
"The point is it's an aggregation of ideas. They feed off each other. They do business with each other."
Mayor Nutter says Philadelphia has become widely known as an "entrepreneurial start-up tech-savvy hub."
"And one of the reasons why Philadelphia has seen the largest percentage increase in millennial population of any major city in America."
