Mayor Kenney Predicts Some School Workers Will Be Welcomed With Open Arms

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Mayor Kenney gave a pep talk to the point people of his community schools initiative.
Coordinators at the nine schools selected to be service hubs known as community schools are beginning a two-week "boot camp" to begin to identify the needs at their schools.
Speaking at the meeting at 990 Spring Garden Street, Mayor Kenney told them their jobs coordinating social and health services will be appreciated.
"I don't know whether you know this or not but when you get there and you start working, the teachers are going to love you. The support staff are going to love you. The principals are going to love you. Because they can go teach, and they don't have to worry about all the stuff they've been doing."
The program, using $4 million generated by the soda tax, is expected to be implemented in schools later this fall.
