Mayor Kenney Not Pressing His Luck By Discussing Any Possible Villanova Celebration

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Mayor Jim Kenney says he won't put a black cat in the path of the Wildcats, by discussing any plans for an NCAA victory parade for Villanova.

Somewhere in City Hall is there a binder with plans for a parade should Villanova emerge from the Final Four as the Final One? Mayor Kenney, recalling the 1997 Stanley Cup finals, says he's not going to jinx 'Nova by talking about it.

"The last time we started doing things like that, we put a Flyers jersey on Billy Penn," the mayor said. "I think it was four straight we lost to Detroit, which was terrible. We're going to wish them well and then celebrate after it's over."

Kenney, who's a La Salle alum, says for this tournament he's rooting for Villanova.

"Obviously during the course of the regular season I'm a La Salle fan," said the mayor. "And there are Temple fans and Penn fans, but when it comes to the Final Four and this tournament, any one of our teams to go as deep as this, we're all for them."

Villanova is part of the Final Four for the first time since 2009. The Wildcats will play Oklahoma on Saturday night in Houston with a trip to the NCAA title game at stake.
