Mayor-Elect Kenney Announces More Appointments To His Administration, Including Managing Director

PHILADLEPHIA (CBS) -- Mayor-elect Jim Kenney announced more key appointments to his administration at a City Hall news conference Friday.

Notably, he picked a prominent member of the current administration to be his managing director and promised to give him a lot of latitude in the job.

"I'd like to turn the microphone over to our next Managing Director, Mike DiBerardinis," said Kenney.

 

Like his selection of Richard Ross for Police Commissioner, Kenney found the popular choice for Managing Director. DiBerardinis has been in city and state government for 30 years and has never lost his idealism. It was on his display as he talked about helping Kenney's ambitious plans.

"When I look at them, I want to start working, today, I want to get right down to business today because if we do it right, it will change the lives for the citizens of this city in a meaningful and powerful way," said DiBerardinis.

Kenney promised DiBerardinis would have a free hand when he does start because he intends to restore the strong-managing-director system, which Mayor Nutter moved away from.
