Matt Rhule Thanks Temple Fans, Philadelphia In Full Page Ad

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A day removed from hearing that their head coach was leaving the program, Temple football fans got word from Matt Rhule himself. It came in the form of a full page newspaper ad in the Philadelphia Inquirer.

After leading the Owls to the team's best two season stretch in program history, including 20 wins and a conference title, Rhule is taking his talents to Waco, Texas.

Temple Fans Express Mixed Emotions After Matt Rhule Leaves Football Program

He is not doing so without acknowledging Philadelphia and Temple University.

"I want to express our sincere gratitude to Temple University," Rhule wrote on behalf of himself and his family. Rhule spent the last 4 years on North Broad street taking the football team from a dismal 2 win season, to a program defining win over Penn State, all the way to a conference title.

"Temple will always be a part of us and we will be cheering on the Owls from a far," Rhule wrote.

Now, the Owls will prepare to take on Wake Forest in a bowl game, without Rhule, but it sounds like they have his full support.
