PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Lincoln Financial Field is getting ready to host a bunch of comic book characters, and their fans.

The "Marvel Experience" opens on Wednesday.  It's a mobile theme park that packs a punch.  Also lots of explosions and over-the-top special effects, all designed to drop visitors into the middle of Marvel's world, alongside many of the iconic characters from the comic book empire.

The dynamic duo that developed the "Marvel Experience" utilized the latest technological wizardry in hopes of redefining the theme park experience.

"This is what we call the Simularium," says Rick Licht, CEO of HeroVentures.com.  "I'ts a stereoscopic, full-dome theatre that uses 14 double-stacked projectors to create an experience that is truly in 3-D. "

There's also a 3-D shooting gallery, a "motion theatre," and many other interactive attractions, all set up at the Linc.

The Marvel Experience runs through July 5th, then moves on to Chicago, New York, and St. Louis.
