Homicide investigation underway after 23-year-old woman found dead inside Pennsylvania apartment

Woman killed in Bucks County remembered as hard-worker: "It has been very, very difficult"

A homicide investigation is underway after a 23-year-old woman was found dead inside her Telford Borough, Pennsylvania, apartment last weekend, Bucks County officials announced Thursday.

Maria Popol, 23, was found dead inside her apartment on the 100 block of Main Street in Telford Borough on Sunday, according to officials. The Bucks County Coroner's Office ruled the manner of Popol's death a homicide.

Margie Domiguez was Popol's co-worker for about 6-8 months at Don Leo Restaurant and Grocery in Telford, and she said she was a very hard worker.

Domiguez said she thought something was off when she didn't show up to help work a large party.

"She was supposed to work," Domiguez said. "She knew we had a lot going on that day, and she was excited to come to work, and on Saturday, we didn't know where she was. We started looking for her everywhere."

Originally, Domiguez said they thought Popol moved closer to family in New Jersey because she didn't have any family in Pennsylvania.

But then, Popol's family reached out and said she was missing and they were worried.

"When I found out she was missing, I got very nervous because it wasn't really making sense about why she wasn't talking to anyone about where she was," she said.

Domiguez said she was used to seeing her all the time and was saddened to know what unfolded.

"For us, it has been very, very difficult because she was here all day with us," she said.

Popol's death remains under investigation.
