MAPLE SHADE, N.J., (CBS) -- We have be warned of the IRS scam and the Microsoft Scam and now one South Jersey town is warning residents about the Grandparent Scam.

Grandparents will do anything for their grandchildren. Lt. Jeffery Hoch from Maple Shade Police Department says a grandparent's love makes them vulnerable to scammers.

"They claim that the child is broken down, needs help or maybe was a victim of a crime and needs help, or they call up and complain that the child is under arrest and needs bail money," said Lt. Hoch.

Lt. Hoch says the scams are out there, nationwide. Police recommend you talk to your loved one about what they can do to make sure you are not in trouble.

"Call your family, call the rest of the family and confirm if it's legitimate or not. You shouldn't be under duress or under a rush to get the money," said Lt. Hoch.
