Many Flights To Florida Cancelled Due To Hurricane Matthew

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- While Hurricane Matthew may spare our area, people trying to fly to Florida out of Philadelphia Thursday were out of luck.

All flights from Philadelphia International headed to Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Miami were cancelled for the day, as Florida braced for the arrival of Hurricane Matthew.

But still, some travelers told CBS 3 Eyewitness News that they were determined to get the Sunshine State.

"I've gotta go back home and take care of my dog, my house. Gotta board my windows up and take shelter I guess."

There are other flights still scheduled to head to other parts of Florida, like Fort Myers, Jacksonville, Tampa and Orlando. But Philly International says cancellations could pop up throughout the day, and could linger into Friday
