Manayunk Church Begins Renovation And Rededication Project

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A Catholic church in Manayunk is sending it's prayerful intentions skyward as part of a million dollar renovation and rededication project.

The renovation at Saint John the Baptist Church at Rector and Cresson Streets included critical external repairs, and restoration of the gold plated cross.

The cross has been repaired, and a time-capsule filled with petitions of prayer are inside.

Monsignor Lawrence says the cross will be repositioned 208 feet from the ground, a little closer to God, he says, and maybe those prayers will be answered a little bit faster.
