Man, Woman Dead After Standoff At York Home

YORK, Pa. (AP) — Police in central Pennsylvania say a man and woman were found dead after a 4½-hour standoff overnight during which police were fired upon repeatedly.

York Area Regional Police were called to a home in York Township just outside of Red Lion at about 11 p.m. Tuesday.

They said they found that a 24-year-old woman had been shot, but someone started firing shots from the residence.

Neighbors were evacuated, and police said numerous rounds were discharged, and the gunfire continued for more than an hour.

Authorities said officers eventually entered the residence and found a 24-year-old man dead of a gunshot wound. The woman was also pronounced dead.

York County Coroner Pam Gay said the names of the two people killed have not been released pending notification of their relatives.
