PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A man has surrendered to police after a two-hour barricade situation in West Philadelphia early Monday morning.

Police say it all started around 2 a.m. near 48th and Parrish Streets in the Mill Creek section of the city.

A 34-year-old woman told police a 43-year-old man, who she met a the bar, sexually assaulted her, held her at gunpoint and stole $20 from her purse.

Police say she got away from the man and then called 911.

Chief Inspector Scott Small says the man wouldn't answer the door and police declared a barricade situation.

"We notified SWAT and our hostage negotiators," Small says. "We knocked on the door several times. We yelled the name of this male."

And eventually, about two hours later, Small says the man walked out, surrendered and was taken into custody.

No one was injured during the standoff.

Special Victims Unit is investigating.
