Construction Worker Dies After Being Struck On I-95 In Delaware

WILMINGTON, De. (CBS) -- The Delaware State Police are investigating a serious crash, involving a pedestrian, that took place on Monday night. Officials say a male construction worker died as a result of the crash.

Authorities revealed that the man was a 36-year-old construction worker who was struck.

The accident forced the closure of the two right hand lanes of I-95 heading north.

Authorities say the crash took place around 7:37 p.m. on northbound I-95 on the Brandywine River Bridge near US Route 202 in Wilmington.

The man was taken to Christiana Hospital Trauma Center for injuries to his head, his upper and lower extremities and possible internal injuries. Police say the driver stayed on the scene and was not harmed.

The construction worker was pronounced dead, as a result of his injuries, at the hospital.
