Man Shot While Parking His Girlfriend's Car In SW Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The bullets were flying - more than a dozen shots were fired - as a man is ambushed in Southwest Philadelphia, and left in extremely critical condition.

The victim was shot after putting his girlfriend's car into park, according to police.

It happened on the 5600 block of Angora Terrace, which is near Baltimore Avenue, around one Thursday morning.

Police say a 34-year-old man parked his girlfriend's Chevy Malibu in front of her house when a gunman walked up to the driver's side and fired off 15 shots.

Police say at least six bullets hit the car but the victim was able to get out and run across the street. But his attacker, authorities say, followed, shot him in the head and ran off.

Chief Inspector Scott Small says the shooter may have gotten into a van and police would later stop one.

"That vehicle and its occupants are being held. The occupants were transported to Southwest Detectives," to be interviewed.

Police say no one has been arrested.

Two other cars were hit with bullets during the shooting.
