Man Stabbed, Assaulted During Robbery In Olney

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Police are searching for three people who attacked and robbed a man late Tuesday night in the Olney section of city.

Police were called shortly after 11:30 p.m. for a shooting at 6th Street and Somerville Avenue. Responding officers found a man in his 20's or early 30's bleeding heavily from multiple stab wounds to his back and leg, but he had not been shot.

The victim was taken to Einstein Medical Center in critical condition, but was expected to survive his injuries.

He told police that he was assaulted and robbed by two men and a woman.

"He said that his watch, his wallet and cell phone were taken from him by three people," said Chief Inspector Scott Small, "two males and a female, no further description."

Several witnesses to the attack were cooperating with police.

Investigators are hoping several nearby surveillance cameras and witnesses can help identify the suspects.
