Man Shot Dead While Answering Door In East Mount Airy

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police say a man was shot and killed while answering a knock at the door in Northwest Philadelphia late Sunday night.

It happened shortly before midnight along the 6200 block of Magnolia Street in the East Mount Airy section of the city.

Witnesses inside the home told police that the 29-year-old victim was responding to a knock on the front door and was looking through a peep hole when two shots were fired. The man was struck in the face and died at the scene.

The gunman ran off and remains at large.

Police have no suspects and have no motive for the shooting.
