Man Shot By Police In Hamilton Township Charged For Allegedly Stabbing Father

HAMILTON Twp., NJ (CBS) – Police say a 36-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and other related charges for a stabbing that occurred Wednesday evening in Hamilton Township.

Officials say Shawn P. Clyde was attacking his parents and allegedly stabbing his father with a steak knife when police arrived.

The alleged assault occurred in an apartment in Kuser Village on Nottinghill Lane.

Authorities say officers ordered him several times to drop the knife and when their requests were ignored, officers shot the suspect and took him into custody.

Officials say Clyde's mother also suffered stab wounds during the incident.

All three family members were taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center.

Authorities say Clyde's bail has been set at $500,000. He remains hospitalized at this time.

The incident remains under investigation by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Hamilton Police Division.
