Man Shot At One Of Busiest Intersections In North Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A man is fighting for his life after a barrage of bullets fly overnight at one of the busiest intersections in North Philly.
It happened just after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at Broad Street and Germantown Avenue. Police say the 24-year-old victim was critically injured. He was shot in each arm, in the chest and back.
The victim was rushed to the hospital in a U-Haul. It's unclear whether the victim knew the driver.
"The victim was driven to the hospital by a U-Haul vehicle and the driver of that U-Haul vehicle, as well as the U-Haul vehicle itself, are being held as part of the crime scene," said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small. "We're not sure if the victim knew the driver of the U-Haul or if he was just acting as a good Samaritan, but detectives are talking to the driver of that U-Haul and we are holding the U-Haul van as part of the scene."
Bullets from that shooting went right though a Chinese takeout restaurant, the Nicetown Tioga Library, and a car. Employees were inside the Chinese restaurant at the time the shooting happened and they say bullets narrowly missed them.
Detectives also found several bullet casings from a semi-automatic weapon a block away near Airdrie and Park. They believe that may have been where the shooter shot from and hit the victim on Broad Street.
Police are now looking for three suspects. They say at least one was seen running south to Pacific Street.
