Man Shot And Pistol Whipped In Fern Rock Home Invasion

PHILADLEPHIA (CBS) – Authorities say a man is in the hospital after two men forced him into his apartment shot him in the leg and pistol whipped him.

It happened shortly after 12:30 A.M. Tuesday at the 5900 block of North 12th street in the Fern Rock section of the city.

Police say a 28 year-old man was coming home with takeout food when two males with masks and guns approached him from behind and forced him into first floor apartment. The two suspects ransacked the house and took a Rolex watch from the victim.

Authorities say before leaving the scene in a dark-colored vehicle, the victim was shot in the leg and pistol whipped. He was taken to Einstein Medical Center and placed in stable condition.

Police say the victim's 27 year-old girlfriend was inside the apartment, but was not harmed and is witness.

The suspects have not been found.
