Man Gets 40-Year Sentence For Killing Couple In Their Camden Home
CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) — A man who admitted to killing a couple in their southern New Jersey home is now headed to state prison. Gary Johnson was sentenced Friday to a 15-year term.
He had pleaded guilty in March to aggravated manslaughter charges while a Camden County jury deliberated murder charges against him.
Johnson fatally shot John Valerio and his fiance, Aleshia Hill, in their Camden home in April 2016.

Police found their bodies when officers responded to reports that a man had been shot. Both victims were wounded, while Hill also suffered blunt force trauma injuries to her head.
Prosecutors have said Johnson and Valerio had worked at the same company and often spoke with each other. They say the couple's cellphones and some cash, as well as Hill's engagement ring, were stolen.
