Police: Man In Custody For Allegedly Killing Wife, Mother-In-Law In Holmesburg

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Philadelphia Police have released more details about a double homicide in the city's Holmesburg section in which a man allegedly shot and killed both his wife and his mother-in-law.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. Friday inside of a home along the 3400 block of Chippendale Avenue.

The 42-year-old wife suffered a gunshot wound to the back of the head, according to police. She was pronounced dead around 7:45 p.m.

The second victim, the woman's 71-year-old mother, also sustained a gunshot wound to the head. She was taken Arria-Torresdale Hospital where she was pronounced dead shortly after 8 p.m.

Investigators say the suspect fled the scene in a silver Nissan Rogue.

Officers with the Philadelphia Police's Highway Patrol says they spotted the SUV and initiated a vehicle pursuit. The chase came to an end in a parking lot in Lower Moreland, where the suspect exited the vehicle with a gun aimed a police, according to officials.

Authorities say four officers discharged their weapons, striking the suspect in his right arm.

Police say the suspect was then taken into custody and transported to Abington Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

There were no other injuries as a result of this incident, according to police.
