Man Dies After Violent Attack In Delaware Grocery Store Parking Lot

NEWARK, Del. (AP) -- A Maryland man has died after being violently beaten in a Delaware grocery store parking lot.

Delaware State Police said Monday that 22-year-old Tyler Stanley of Chesapeake City died Saturday a day after the attack.

Police say Stanley was in a car at a grocery store in Newark, Delaware on Friday night when a man opened the passenger door and began punching him in the head and upper body. The assailant and another man with him then jumped in an SUV and fled.

A 57-year-old woman in the car when the attack happened called 911, and emergency responders tried to revive Stanley, who had become unresponsive. He died the next night.

Police say they believe Stanley was targeted and are looking for the two men involved in the attack.
