Man Dies After Skydiving Accident In Gloucester County

WASHINGTON TWP., N.J. (CBS) - A man in Gloucester County, New Jersey died Sunday afternoon from injuries suffered during a skydiving accident.
Police say they received a call just after 2 p.m. that a parachuter was injured after jumping from a plane that had departed from Freefall Adventure in Monroe Township.
"I saw this parachute swinging around and around and around," eyewitness Lamont Dye said.
The 49-year-old diver – identified as Arkady Shenker, from Brooklyn, New York — reportedly landed in an open area on Tuckahoe Road in Washington Township. Scott Palmer owns the property where Shenker landed.
"If the Flyers game wasn't on, I would have been out here and probably witnessed it," Palmer tells CBS3 Eyewitness News. "But, fortuantely I wasn't. And it's a shame, on Easter, for this to happen to this family."
The victim was taken to Kennedy Hospital where he was pronounced dead just before 3:45 p.m. He was said to be wearing a special parachute that allowed him to move forward while descending. Authorities say he was experienced and a frequent customer at Freefall Adventure.
The FAA is investigating what exactly caused the accident.
