Man Convicted Of Shooting Two Men Over Sneakers

MAYS LANDING, N.J. (AP) — An Atlantic City man accused of shooting of two men after they failed to turn over their sneakers during a robbery has been convicted on numerous charges, including two counts of attempted murder.

Roger Howard was also convicted robbery, weapons offenses and six counts of aggravated assault stemming from the October 2012 incident. He faces several decades in prison when he's sentenced April 25.

Atlantic County prosecutors say Howard approached the men — then ages 18 and 19 — and demanded their shoes. When the men refused and ran off, Howard opened fire and eventually took the shoes off of at least one victim.

Police found the wounded men when they responded to reports of shots fired on North Indiana Avenue. Both victims were treated for leg wounds.
