Man Convicted In Death Of Taxi Company Manager

MEDIA, Pa. (AP) — A jury has convicted a man in the slaying of a Philadelphia cab company manager whose body was found wrapped in trash bags inside a taxi.

Twenty-nine-year-old Shamar Alexander was found guilty Friday of first-degree murder in the death of John "Tony" Dillard.

The body of the 57-year-old victim was found in June 2011 in a taxi parked in Chester, about 12 miles from Philadelphia. Police say Dillard had been strangled and stabbed.

Delaware County prosecutors say DNA links Alexander to the crime. Defense attorney Scott Kramer unsuccessfully argued for third-degree murder.

Police say Dillard and Alexander were seen talking together at traffic court in Philadelphia hours before Dillard died. Dillard's fiancee had a court hearing that day.
