Man Charged In New Year's Day Crash That Killed Woman, Infant In Allentown

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A man has been charged in a New Year's Day crash in eastern Pennsylvania that claimed the lives of a woman and her 1-year-old son, authorities said. Lazarus Roldan, 31, surrendered to authorities to face charges including accidents involving death or personal injury, the Lehigh County district attorney's office and Allentown police said.

Authorities allege that he was driving a sport utility vehicle that went out of control and collided with an oncoming car at about 2:45 a.m. on New Year's Day in Allentown. Kisha Cora, 22, a passenger in the car, died shortly afterward at a hospital. Her child, Aechediel Rivera Cora, was pronounced dead three days later.

Authorities said an off-duty state trooper happened upon the crash shortly after it occurred and briefly spoke with the SUV driver, who fled.

It's unclear whether Roldan has an attorney; a message seeking comment was left at a number listed in his name.
