Man Arrested After Interstate Carjacking, Robbery

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A man was arrested Sunday afternoon following a carjacking in Philadelphia and armed robbery in New Jersey.
Septa officials say early Sunday morning, Marquan Pitts of Philadelphia carjacked an off-duty SEPTA maintenance employee at 4th and Spring Garden Streets in the Northern Liberties section of the city.
The suspect was next spotted in the vehicle at the Farley Service Station off the Atlantic City Expressway. NJ State Patrol said Marquan Pitts stole gas at gunpoint, claimed to be a cop, and sped away.
He was next seen in South Philly according to SEPTA Police. Officers gave chase through the neighborhood.
"He came flying down 6th Street," Eyewitness Idriss Cogbill said. "He had the cops by like two blocks. Then he came past us and almost hit a car on 6th. Then he came around down here."
The chase came to an end when the suspect slammed into a work truck and a Red Nissan at 8th and Mercy Streets, where he was then arrested.
Pitts is being charged with theft, weapons possession, receiving stolen property, and impersonating a police officer.
