Cops: Man Charged With DUI After Crash Damages Taco Bell

BRANDYWINE HUNDRED, Del. (CBS) – Police say a man is under arrest following a crash that damaged a Taco Bell in Delaware Thursday afternoon.

Police say 48-year-old Lonney M. Stewart was driving on Concord Pike, just south of Wilmington, when his vehicle began to drift off the to the left hand side of the roadway. Authorities say his vehicle crossed Mt. Lebanon Road and then struck a cement curb and a brick wall at a Taco Bell.

The impact of the crash caused debris fall and strike a vehicle in the Taco Bell parking lot, police say.

Authorities say Stewart was cited by troopers for allegedly driving under the influence of drugs, careless driving, failure to remain within a lane of travel, driving without a valid operator's license and no proof of insurance.

Stewart and a female passenger were both taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the section of Mt. Lebanon Road located in between the northbound and southbound lanes of US Rt. 202 were closed as the crash was investigated and cleared. The drive through lane of the Taco Bell was also closed, but the restaurant stayed open for business.
