Make The Most Of America's Garden Capital

By Phran Novelli

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - From the March Bank at Winterthur, to the annual rebirth of the gardens at Chanticleer, to the first signs of spring at Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve, to Bartram's Garden on the banks of the Schuylkill. Do you realize that you live in one of the most extraordinary places in the country - and the world - for amazing gardens and arboretums?

Well you do! And it's time to check them out.

While many stay open all year - including Longwood Gardens and the Morris Arboretum - and others are just reopening for the season, they are all worth a visit and you can start planning when you want to visit which garden now.

See one a week and you'll have time to see them all at least once before it's winter around here again. Visit AmericasGardenCapital.org as our area is called, and start exploring.

We're lucky to have so many great gardens so close to home. So, get out and enjoy them one by one.
