Lt. Gov. Cawley Asked To Hold Special Meeting To Discuss Lost DRPA Emails

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A Philadelphia union leader is calling on the Delaware River Port Authority to hold an emergency meeting in connection with the apparent loss of e-mails sought in a federal investigation.
KYW Newsradio obtained a copy of a letter that Electricians Union President John Dougherty sent to Pennsylvania Lt. Governor Jim Cawley, who chairs the DRPA.
The Inquirer reports that some internal e-mails are missing in connection with a federal investigation into so-called "politically connected economic development" spending by the DRPA.
Dougherty, who serves as an alternate to the Pennsylvania Auditor General on the DRPA board, wants lawyers for the Authority to attend an emergency session to answer questions about the disappearance of computer files.
In his letter to Cawley, Dougherty writes "all of the facts need to be presented to and discussed among the entire board in an open and transparent manner." Dougherty says the "vague response from DRPA management as to how those files vanished is unacceptable."
Cawley acknolwedges that he is reviewing the request, but adds the "matter is the subject of an ongoing federal grand jury investigation with confidentiality requirements."
