Lost Dog 'Louie' Reunited With Owner In Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) —A Philadelphia woman is finally reunited with her dog -- nearly seven weeks after he disappeared along with her car.

Louie is safe and sound at home tonight.

His owner, J.J. Pierce, is thrilled to have her Labrador back.

The dog was inside her car when it was stolen from the parking lot outside the Home Depot on Columbus Boulevard in South Philadelphia.

J.J. described the moment she was reunited with her dog.

"He walked right up to me and started just like nuzzling me and it took some time before I realized they were telling me in the background he's been scanned, this is him, this is confirmed to be him. But I knew it, as soon as he walked up," she said.

It's unclear exactly where Louie was the whole time.

Two people got in touch with some members of the search party to say they found a dog matching Louie's description.

Louie was taken to the vet where they confirmed his identity and he was reunited with Pierce.

Louie lost about 15 pounds, but is otherwise in good health.
