Long-Delayed Construction On Greenwood Avenue Bridge In Jenkintown Nearly Over

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A bridge over the SEPTA tracks at the Jenkintown Train Station is finally close to reopening, eight months late.
The Greenwood Avenue Bridge was closed in June of 2012 and PennDOT spokesman Gene Blaum says the $5.4-million project was very complicated, but it's nearly done and the span is to reopen this June.
"The original completion time of September 2013, was shifted back to mid-2014, so our aim was to get the bridge open by May 22nd of this year, but unfortunately we lost about 3 weeks of time during the winter, but we are working to make it up."
He adds there was a lot of utility coordination and construction involving seven different companies and that set the project back as well. Crews are now working overtime to finish the bridge walls, sidewalks and put up traffic signals.
