Local Students Get Helping Hand With College Tuition

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - A generous grant is helping college students in the area stay in class this semester.

The W.W. Smith Charitable Trust has given Delaware Valley University more than $63,000 to help 18 students pay tuition bills.

23-year old Nyia McEntyre of Lansdale received $2,000:

"It meant a lot to me because I was on the verge of dropping out of school if I didn't have the money and they were able to assist me with my tuition and at the last minute I was able to come back and finish my senior year."

Scholarships range from $2,000 to $7,000. Students must have good grades and a financial need.

McEntyre is a business administration major hoping for a job in management consulting after graduation.
