Local Red Cross Chapter Helps With Tornado Relief Efforts

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The American Red Cross in our area is headed to Arkansas to assist with tornado relief efforts.

CBS 3 caught up with Sara Smith of their public affairs team at Philadelphia International Airport before she boarded a plane bound for Little Rock.

Smith will help spread the word on the ground of the Red Cross efforts.

"I'll be on the ground to see where the shelters are, what type of services the Red Cross is going to be providing, and helping get the word out to the national public so that they understand what's going on there, what kind of response there is, and also how they can help," Smith said.

The Red Cross says financial help is always appreciated when disasters like this strike.
