Local Police Receive Acts Of Kindness From Some Of Their Youngest Residents

DELAWARE VALLEY (CBS) -- Police officers throughout the Delaware Valley are receiving acts of kindness from some of their towns' youngest residents.

Kids in Newark, Del. took to the sidewalks on Monday to hand out free lemonade and hugs to police, firefighters and EMTs who serve and protect their town.

What? Free Lemonade!!

Back in Pennsylvania, a little girl named Leah stopped by Middletown Township Police Department with some treats for the officers. She also gave them a handmade card saying she wanted to be a police officer.

"I want to be a police officer when I grow up," the card read. "I want to bring you a happy day because you work really hard and catch bad guys. You need to take a rest."

And kids in Cherry Hill dropped pizza off to police and offered to buy an officer coffee Tuesday morning.

Departments in turn have been thanking their communities for the outpouring of support from citizens young and old ever since the Dallas shooting which is being called the deadliest attack for police officers since 9/11.
