Local Organ Donor Program Sets National Records
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A local organ donor program is saving even more lives, setting national records.
The Gift of Life Donor Program is setting records. Just this year, the number of organ donations increased by 61 donations, just last month donations were up 40-percent. President and CEO Howard Nathan calls this area the most giving in the country.
"More and more people understand that giving the gift of life after the end of life, saves lives, and it's your neighbors that are waiting for transplants and more and more people know about transplants than ever before."
He says nearly 2-dozen Americans die every day waiting for a transplant when just one selfless donor can touch up to 50-lives.
