Local Medical College Partners With California Company To Help Seniors Stay In Their Homes

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A local medical school has teamed up with a California company to help Philadelphia seniors remain in their homes.

Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine is working with The Residentialist Group to help older residents stay in their homes safely.

PCOM President Dr. Jay Feldstein says the goal for the seniors is to ensure they take medicines properly, live in safe conditions, have nutritious meals and stay as pain-free as possible.

Students will benefit as well.

"We see this as an opportunity to train medical students, physicians assistants and residents as well. Just as they may do a hospital rotation, they may do a house call rotation."

Although the company providing the home health services is from the West Coast, its founder is a PCOM graduate.
