Local Grad Student Heads To Uganda To Help Design Schools

VILLANOVA, Pa. (CBS) -- A Villanova University grad student is heading to Uganda today on a months long service trip to build schools.

Raquel Burlotos of Chadds Ford is a civil engineering grad student who's donating her time to Engineering Ministeries International, a non-profit which helps lift families out of poverty.

She will be using her newly minted engineering skills to design schools, and she expects to learn from her experience.

Burlotos says the ministry also brings Ugandan people in and teachers them life skills. Her work will include site planning and water systems as well.
