Local Concert Aims To Raise Funds To Fight Cancer

ARDMORE, Pa. (CBS) - The concert features Beru Revue, Ben Arnold, the Fractals, and Two Brothers.

Local musicians will raise their voices Sunday night at a concert at the Ardmore Music Hall.

The concert will benefit a fund named for a Horsham man whose voice was silenced, and life lost, to throat cancer.

Dan Rich -- a husband, father, entrepreneur and amateur musician -- was diagnosed with tonsil and throat cancer in 2008, enduring chemo, radiation, and multiple surgeries, including one that removed his pharynx, leaving him unable to talk.

Not long after his death in July of 2013, the Dan's Voice Loud and Clear Foundation was established in his memory at Fox Chase Cancer Center. Its current mission is to raise $50,000 to add a video endoscope to Fox Chase's cancer fighting arsenal.

When he was asked to take part in Sunday's fundraiser, Bob Beru says the answer had to be yes.

"I have a couple of guys that I lost in my band -- Johnny Sacks, and then one of our stage guys just recently passed away from cancer. Nobody is untouched by the disease, and I think it's time that we all stand up, and make an effort to do whatever we can to stamp it out, in our lifetime, if we can."

Ben Arnold will also be performing. The show starts at 5 p.m.

"We know it's a school night, so we'll get everybody out of there at 11," Beru says.
