Local City Councilman Wants To Hear From You, Via Text Message

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Have a question or complaint about something in the city? One Philadelphia City Councilman wants to hear from you, by text message.

Sure, there's an app to reach 311 and City Hall, but, "not everybody has a smartphone, not everybody has Internet access, but everybody does have a cell phone, for the most part," says City Councilman Bobby Henon. "Everybody texts, my mother texts me almost every day."

And now people in the 6th District can do so, too.

"We're calling it 'Text Bobby,'' 215-392-6606."

Don't text and drive, he says, but if you see a pothole, have a suggestion, or want to express your opinion,"You'll be able to contact my office, you'll be able to contact me. It's a new way to broaden our communication with the general public in a quick and responsive manner."

Future plans include polling texters about issues.

Again, Henon's digits: 215-392-6606.
